CLX Logistics has been asked to perform a review of the warehousing and logistics operation of a major UK online retailer in order to identify potential improvement initiatives.

Approach

Together with the client four main focus areas have been identified for the warehousing and logistics review:

• Transportation rates benchmarking – Container Loads, UK domestic parcel and catalogue distribution;
• Warehousing – Stock analysis (inbound, outbound and stock levels);
• Multiple deliveries – Number of same day deliveries to one customer;
• Returns – Number of return shipments and items.

Results

CLX Logistics identified saving and improvement opportunities within the four main focus areas of the warehousing and logistics review in terms of stock reduction, transportation rates reduction and pick-up / drop-off optimization. Furthermore CLX Logistics advised the major UK online retailer on how these savings and improvements should be implemented.
