In a loose capacity market, it helps to identify areas where you can improve your rates and save money, and in a tight capacity market, you’ll benefit from understanding whether the rate increases requested by your carriers are market competitive. It’s also beneficial to know whether the rates that you’re offering in the marketplace are competitive enough in a limited capacity pool.

The first webinar in this series will discuss rate benchmarking as a tool in understanding competitive position. We’ll review how to leverage rate intelligence in today’s marketplace to ensure that you don’t overpay for tight capacity and that you gain access to the capacity you need with market competitive rates. We’ll also touch on a few ways shippers can present themselves as an attractive option to carriers that have a large amount of potential load to choose from. This includes loading and unloading trucks in a timely manner, paying freight bills on time, having a resting place for drivers to wait while their trailer is being loaded and other qualitative aspects, in addition to the quantitative components that help shippers stand out and differentiate themselves from the competition. You’ll also get a review of other elements to keep in mind when navigating today’s market, such as mode conversion to intermodal transportation, rail, load consolidation and more.

Presenter: Mike Challman – VP, NORTH AMERICAN OPERATIONS

Mr. Challman leads all of ChemLogix Managed Services in North America, including freight management operations; benchmarks, bids and carrier procurement; dedicated and rail fleet operations; and brokerage services. He brings to the role a multifaceted background that includes operations, customer service, solution development, project management and continuous improvement programs. Prior to Chemlogix, Mr. Challman spent more than twenty years in the transportation industry, most recently serving as Senior Director, Transportation Management at DHL/Exel Supply Chain. His logistics background also includes leadership positions with Burnham Service Corporation, ROCOR Transportation and Schneider National Carriers. A decorated Air Force veteran, Mr. Challman earned his Bachelor of Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy and holds a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University.
